FROM SEA TO SHINING SEA & SOMETIMES ABROAD:
Film Block 1

The sun shone down on the Americas and the first indigenous people who lived here almost 600 years ago, but in the grand scheme of things these two continents are babies. Our older global siblings knew about the dangers of the dark long before we started telling spooky stories around a campfire. The filmmakers in this block descends from a long line of storytellers, both here at home and abroad … and we’d be best to heed their warnings.

WITH FRIENDS LIKE THESE:
Film Block 3

Friend or Foe? Ride or Die? This next block explores the horrific, sometimes adversarial, unbreakable bonds of true friendships.

THE PROBLEM WITH MODERN TECHNOLOGY:
Film Block 4

That one giant leap for mankind was one leap too far. With scientist and engineers fueled with imagination, dreaming up traveling to distances farther than the mind can fathom in crafts that have yet to be invented, they are ignoring the dangers they are creating right here on earth. The filmmakers featured here have come to take us on a scientific journey which leaves us nowhere to run.

THE CHILDREN OF THE STEEL GREY SKIES:
Film Block 5

The long, mist-soaked days of the Pacific Northwest has a way of putting people on edge. Doctors have a name for it, however medicine has no dominion over the unknown and turns a blind eye to all the things that lurk in the mist when the skies over the Upper Left turn grey. In this terrifying block Washingtonian filmmakers take center stage to remind us of the horrors that thrive in the long dark days nurtured by rain.

A CABIN IN THE WOODS:
Film Block 6

The namesake of the festival! The filmmakers in this block shows us that Bigfoot isn't the only thing lurking in the wilderness of the Pacific North West, and that the wolf isn't the biggest and baddest thing wandering around in the woods.
